MAGNETIC FIELDS


Background:

A difference of potential of the electric field also creates a magnetic field. This one has an intensity which is not proportional to the tension but to the strength of current. Its intensity quickly decreases too by going away from the source. On the other hand, no material is going to stop or to reduce the magnetic field. Only the distance reduces it.

In practice, in a house magnetic fields are the most intense near large electrical devices, which need a strong intensity of current and for devices, which contain windings, such as transformers for example.


Effects on the health:

The risks are identical to electric fields: possible increase of the risk of leukaemia, decrease of the rate of melatonin (which weakens the immune systems and the confusions of biorhythms) as well as neuro-vegetative confusions: sleep, concentration, migraine, loss of memory, fatigue, stress, depression etc.


Ways to resolve the problem:

A wall is not an obstacle for magnetic fields; you can thus be more exposed to a magnetic field produced by one of your neighbour's devices on the other side of the wall.

You can be also exposed to fields induced by antennas relay of mobile phones or those of the high voltage lines. When confronted with these fields the only solution consists of moving to a safer place.

For magnetic fields created by your domestic devices, it is necessary to place the broadcasting devices at the furthest distance farthest possible from the occupants: do not sit too near screens, do not put an electric casing above or below the bed, do not trail extension leads across rooms, and do not sleep near a transformer or a clock radio...

It is necessary to ban domestic devices with induction (heating or lighting), to avoid the halogen lamps, which contain a transformer in their base, and to choose electronic roadbeds rather than ferromagnétiques for neon and swig fluocompactes.

Last point, it is absolutely imperative to check that both threads of the same electrical circuit follow the same route, otherwise a magnetic field builds up itself between both who can easily cross a large part of the house. However, the magnetic field is produced only during the use of the device, and stops when the device is switched off, contrary to electric fields which continue as long as the device is plugged in.


Important:

It is not because we do not see them; the radiations do not generally make us a problem. Nevertheless these fields are more and more numerous and powerful.

It is thus advisable to protect ourselves from radiations parasites, at least at home and in zones of rest, such as the bedroom. And without going into the debate on mobile phones, it is imperative not to live in the immediate environment of antennas relay.
